LOOK: Derrick Henry makes NFL history during Ravens’ Week 1 showdown vs. Colts

Derrick Henry wasted no time making his presence felt in the Baltimore Ravens’ season opener against the Indianapolis Colts, etching his name further into the NFL record books. Entering the contest ranked fourth all-time in career rushing touchdowns, the powerhouse back surged into third place during a dominant first half. His journey upward began late in the first quarter with a four yard plunge that gave Baltimore a 14 to 7 lead and tied him with legendary Hall of Famer Marcus Allen at 123 career scores.

The tie did not last long, as Henry officially surpassed Allen in the second quarter with a breathtaking 32 yard gallop into the end zone. The play served as a highlight reel for everything that makes Henry a generational talent, combining elite vision and raw strength with closing speed that few defenders can match. By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, Henry had completed a hat trick by scoring his third touchdown of the day from three yards out, bringing his career total to 125 and sealing a commanding 38 to 16 victory for the Ravens.

By climbing past Marcus Allen, who retired as the league leader decades ago, Henry now trails only Emmitt Smith and LaDainian Tomlinson on the all-time rushing touchdown list. While Smith holds the gold standard with 164 scores and Tomlinson follows with 145, Henry continues to close the gap on those historic figures while simultaneously chasing other milestones. Currently tenth on the all-time rushing yards list, he sits less than one thousand yards away from becoming just the seventh player in NFL history to surpass 14,000 career rushing yards.
